SWC Services & Maintenance: Shiny Solar Modules
 | Example of a top-of-pole mounted solar modules | No routine maintenance is required for most solar modules, however, to promote optimal performance of the system, SOLAR WIND Canada includes as part of their installation, the following post-installation 30-day inspection in the first year of operation. This would normally be combined with the "Care-free Turbine" service if this is a hybrid RETS deployment. The inspection procedure follows the general manufacturers' suggestions which promote efficient operation of the solar modules and ensures long operating life of the modules.
SOLAR WIND Canada offers the "Shiny Solar Modules" service to non-SWC installations ¤. The service will involve an on-site inspection scheduled at a mutually convenient date and time. Call 905 321 5211 or click to email SWC for a quote (please include detailed description of the installation - solar modules model, wattage, number of modules, type of mounts, date of original installation, date of last inspection, etc.).
30-day inspection
A number of visual and physical observations, assessment of the condition of the modules and mounts are made following the manufacturers' suggested checklist.
- Solar modules & mounts
- inspect the modules for damage to glass, backskin or frame,
- check the electrical connections for loose connections and corrosion,
- inspect the mounting hardware, loose bolts, securely fastened,
- check for any dirt, leaves or other obstructions on the front glass (remove if obstructions are discovered),
- confirm true southern orientation of solar array taking into account declination for the site,
- if modules mounted on a pole-top with manual adjustment of tilt-angle, depending upon the season, adjust tilt-angle for optimal solar energy collection.
- BOS & Storage inspection
- inspect the BOS components and their connections, observe for any abnormal conditions,
- inspect the battery array - check for corrosion, tight connections, electrolyte levels,./li>
- Client review & sign-off
- review operations and maintenance with the RETS client,
- document any client perceived issues, problems, and observations,
- client acceptance & sign-off.
