Overview

Current rectifiers will convert AC to DC. In general, solar modules produce DC current, so they can be connected directly to batteries which operate as DC current. However, wind turbines produce AC current (some turbines do produce DC current), and therefore, a current rectifier is employed to convert AC current to DC current. Some turbines have a rectifier built in. In most cases though, the rectifier is supplied as a separate component that must be installed between the wind turbine and the battery. Often, the rectifier is combined with a charge controller into one complete wind turbine control unit.
